Our First Lowe's Trip...

We quickly realized that the "Wall of Closets" (there are six of them upstairs) didn't need to all be wardrobe closets. So, after church and Costco, we headed up to Henderson to make our first Lowe's trip!
We purchased the blue paint for our bedroom, the green for the dining/kitchen, the white we'll need for the kitchen, and the primer for the whole house. More importantly, we purchased a shelving system for the two hallway closets.

"They're five feet, right?" Oh... those are words we learned to regret. :)

No. They are 1/2 an inch shorter... which means that even though the helpful guys at Lowe's cut the shelving into 5' pieces, Brandon had to use his new hacksaw (THANK YOU PARENTALS!!!) to cut off half an inch from each shelf. It wasn't too bad though. We both got in there and got it done!

...and then Brandon opened the second closet...
...and inside was the attic space access door...
CRAP! Does this mean I have to do even MORE cutting? Wait... I have an idea... BAAAARB!!!!!

Luckily, the pieces we had our shelves cut out of were 12', so we had four 2' "scrap" pieces, which just happened to be PERFECT for the space on the side.
Yay China Cabinet!!

We spent the rest of the evening filling up the cabinets, and reclaiming our living room!

Earlier, Barb was working on an AWESOME project: Turning the nasty range hood into a stainless-steel wannabe! Now all the appliances in the kitchen match!

...and the best part is that it cost us NOTHING, because we used paint we already had!
(Check out that wallpaper pattern. Hey, '90s!)

In other news: Brandon "fixed" the dryer vent... We'll still work on it more when we replace the floors in the kitchen/dining/laundry... but for now at least it's up to current code. He also put some live wires that are in the shed in a junction box so that no one gets accidentally electrocuted.
