We started off with the long trip to Creedmor for our U-Haul. Apparently they didn't have a truck in our size any closer. Unfortunately, this added about 30 miles to our round-trip mileage. Bummer.
Our favorite part of renting a U-Haul is always the "Speed Kills: Slow Down and Live" sticker.
We had the U-Haul for 12 hours. It took us 5 hours just to pack the truck. Three of our great guy friends came and helped load the truck. They did a great job putting the puzzle together. The U-Haul was stuffed!
Barb sat back and let the guys move all the stuff. Well... not really. She cleaned out each room as we moved the stuff from it. And packed the stuff that Brandon forgot to pack before moving day arrived. It was pristine when she was done:
Bye to the first house we came home to as a married couple! Lots of good memories were made there, but we are excited to make new ones in a house we own!
We finally got to the new place at 4pm and were ready for the day to be over. Unfortunately, we still had to unpack the truck into the house. Since we are planning to update the kitchen immediately (and most other things not too long thereafter) we were stuck leaving most of the boxes in the middle of the kitchen and living room. We'll get to them later.
One of Brandon's former students came and helped unload the truck on the Oxford side, as well as the Peters family, who stuck out the whole day with us. Nikki even was able to clean the house for us before we moved all our stuff in.
We got our bed put together, and settled down to watch some of the Olympics that night. Lots of work ahead of us!
